and the creative sector faces numerous challenges & questions in 2021.
Music friends and acquaintances who depend mostly on their performances face great challenges.
As well as young musicians who want to explore, collaborate, learn in the music & creative industries
currently have little to no space.
You can always study of course, only the competition does not take place for live musicians. Considering playanote.co.uk is a business part of what I do as a programmer (at utilewebsites.co.uk), which can be a complement for e.g. applications&sounds, html5 games&sounds , online presentations etc... the impact from an economic point of view is not great. As a creative person (musicians, producer/technician) I am no longer as +/- 20 years ago 40-50% dependent in terms of income from work as performing freelance musicians. For musicians who do depend on this, the market was already not what it was years ago far before 2020 and now there is no (live) market at all.
Yet creativity, music will never go away and it offers comfort, "healing," joy and connection precisely those things we need as human beings and in these inhuman times this desire is only increasing.
To not get too much stuck in your head in the narrative, I thought we have to; do, keep making things and sharing. So the moments we have I have started to do more and more video (+ vfx, green screen) and audio productions with a group of creatives and from this circle new collaborations/productions appear every now and then. Considering video was still fairly new territory in 2020 to do this totally by myself (camera, recording, editing) there is also a whole world to explore for me.
The nice thing is that I also meet new people, get new questions from which inspirational creations emerge. When the end goal is youtube or other platforms, at least there is a game to be played and the efforts are useful (studying, playing live, inventing etc...).
We also receive nice positive feedback that people appreciate it when we share a new creation. For anyone, for example, a music video touches something in his soul, because music communicates differently with our brain, it can evoke different memories and feelings, it seems to take a more special path in our memory.
Let's continue to connect and create, let's free our self from fear and become creators....
