Blender for VFX / Virtual sets

What is blender

Blender is an open source program for creating 3D computer graphics and computer animations. The program is available for several operating systems and is written in C, C++ and Python.

History

The program was originally developed in the Netherlands. Because of its different controls, it was not among the most well-known programs, but it has a loyal group of users. When the program was only available through purchase, it was not a resounding success. As a result, development was stopped at one point and the program was no longer available. This led to many negative reactions from loyal users. The company agreed to make the source code public if one could submit 100,000 euros to recompense investors.[3] The Blender community scraped together this amount in just 7 weeks, after which the program's source code was made public.[4] As a result, development continued as an open source program.

The Blender Institute, part of the Blender Foundation, develops open source projects, such as movies, which also drive the development of Blender: the functionality one needs for the projects is gradually added to Blender. Projects worked on include Elephants Dream (2006), Big Buck Bunny (2008), Yo Frankie! (2008), Sintel (2010), Tears of Steel (2012), Cosmos Laundromat (2015) and Agent 327 (2017).
